The Comeback of Downtown Portland

Thursday, May 19, 2022 (3:00 PM - 4:30 PM) (PDT)

Description

Registration has closed, please contact us at events@portlandalliance.com if you wish to attend.

Historically, Downtown Portland has been a hotbed of innovation and economic growth and was once one of the city’s most welcoming and lively areas, packed with personality. Did the pandemic cause Downtown to lose its energy and charm? No, but there is no denying that our Downtown area has suffered the consequences of a prolonged pandemic and reputational challenges resulting from crime, spikes in homelessness, and filth on our streets.

As Downtown Portland emerges post-pandemic and as we settle back into pre-pandemic routines, we hope to see employees and visitors alike once again look to Downtown Portland as a destination for everything good – food, music, culture, retail shopping. With many events on the horizon, including the Rose Festival, Blues Fest, and Pioneer Courthouse Square’s schedule of events and programs, Downtown Portland is ready of its comeback!

Join us for our May Forum celebrating a Grand Re-opening of Downtown Portland where we will hear from the teams who plan and host Portland’s most prominent attractions. Panelists will also give us an inside view into how these beloved events will take shape following a global pandemic.

Please note this event will be held from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Panelists include:

  • Jeff Curtis, CEO, Portland Rose Festival
  • Christina Fuller, Festival Director, Waterfront Blues Festival
  • Jennifer Polver, Executive Director, Pioneer Courthouse Square
  • Moderated by Katie Meyer, Chief of Staff to Commissioner Mapps & Co-Chair of the Mayor's Events Action Table
